Airports in India: Kolkata is not in the top ten best airports in the world, Bangalore airport is the second best – mssewb.org

Airports in India: Turbulent economic situation. The aviation industry has not seen much hope in recent times. Despite initially coming out of the shadow of corona infection, it has not fully recovered. But even then, statistics show that the number of flights across the world has increased by 26%. But here India has something to be proud of.

Because, Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport are among the top 10 on-time airports in the world. That’s according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium. However, even if you feel proud as an Indian, there is enough reason to be disappointed as a Calcutta resident in this published list. Because Kolkata could not make it to the relevant list!

In its “On-time Performance Review 2022” report, Cirium states that Bangalore airport ranks second in the world in terms of on-time arrivals and departures among international airports. Haneda Airport is the best airport in Japan.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport ranks 7th in the world on this scale.

Incidentally, none of the airports in Bengaluru and Delhi were in the top 10 in the 2021 list. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport again grabbed the 11th spot. Luis Felipe de Oliveira, director general (DG) of Airports Council International-ACI World, said in this context, Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport occupying 2 places in the world is quite promising. Along with this, Delhi Airport occupying the 7th place is quite an important event. Because, neither of these 2 airports were in the top 10 of 2021. In that respect, it is good news that these 2 airports have entered the top ten list.

A separate list of ‘Large Airports’ shows that Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Chennai’s Chennai Airport and Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport occupy the 11th, 15th and 18th positions respectively.
Jaipur Airport and Cochin Airport occupy 9th and 18th position respectively in the list of ‘Medium Airports’. However, none of the country’s airports made it into the top 20 in the ‘Small Airports’ category.
