Wall Street indices ended the last trading session with mixed investor sentiment. As the domestic market strengthened, the rupee appreciated against the US dollar. Indian headline indices started the week on a higher note, reflecting the gains in Asian markets. That has been driven by gains in technology stocks. BSE Information Technology emerged as the best performing sector led by Nucleus Software Exports and Sonata Software Ltd. The worst-performing sectors of the session were Energy, Oil & Gas and Healthcare.

At 11:30 am, the BSE Sensex rose 0.05 percent to 61,032. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.07 percent to 17,931 levels. On the Sensex, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid Corporation of India were the top gainers, while Maruti Suzuki, State Bank of India and Kotak Mahindra Bank were market underperformers.

With 1,519 shares rising and 1,782 shares declining on BSE, the advance-decline ratio was strongly in favor of declines. Shares of Kriti Industries (India) Ltd, the top BSE smallcap gainer, rose over 15% and kept small-cap bulls busy. Shares of Jetect India Ltd and AK Energy Services were also bought heavily.
