At 11:30 am, the BSE Sensex rose 0.05 percent to 61,032. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.07 percent to 17,931 levels. On the Sensex, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid Corporation of India were the top gainers, while Maruti Suzuki, State Bank of India and Kotak Mahindra Bank were market underperformers.
With 1,519 shares rising and 1,782 shares declining on BSE, the advance-decline ratio was strongly in favor of declines. Shares of Kriti Industries (India) Ltd, the top BSE smallcap gainer, rose over 15% and kept small-cap bulls busy. Shares of Jetect India Ltd and AK Energy Services were also bought heavily.
