Penny Stocks List: Indian benchmark indices opened the session flat but edged higher thanks to strong gains in metal stocks. With a gain of over 2%, BSE Metals was the best-performing sector, led by Tata Steel and Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). BSE Commodities and BSE Telecommunications both experienced significant gains, while BSE Healthcare and BSE IT were the only declining sectors.

At 11:20 am, the BSE Sensex rose 0.47% to 61,129. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.45% to 18,186 levels. On the Sensex, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and Tata Motors were the top gainers, while Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra and Bajaj Finserv dragged the market.

With 2,310 shares rising and 1,112 shares falling on the BSE, the advance-decline ratio was strongly in favor of the advance. Broader indices outperformed major indices. Shares of BF Investments Ltd, the top BSE smallcap lover, rallied and locked in the 20% upper circuit, keeping small-cap bulls busy.

In other developments, growth in India’s eight key sectors accelerated to 5.4% in November from 3.2% in the same month last fiscal, according to the commerce ministry. Retail inflation for industrial workers fell to 5.41% in November from 6.08% in October.
