Share Market Update: The Nifty 50 opened on Wednesday at 18,093.35 with the index lower than the previous close of 18,118.3. Key Wall Street indexes on Tuesday ended a series of major earnings reports tracking mixed. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.27%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.31% and the S&P 500 ended flat with a negative bias (0.07%) in overnight trade.

Despite a mixed overnight performance on Wall Street, major Asian indices were trading higher. Except for Australia’s S&P ASX 200 index, all others were trading in the green led by Hong Kong’s Hang Seng.

At 10:10 am, the Nifty 50 was trading down 161.05 points or 0.89% at 17,957.25. Broader market indices, on the other hand, underperformed front-line indices. The Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index was down 1.23% and the Nifty Small-Cap 100 index was down 1.05%.

According to data till January 25, FIIs were net sellers and DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 760.51 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,144.75 crore.
