State Budget 2023: Chandrima Bhattacharya made a big announcement for the common people of the state in the state budget. Good news especially for those who are thinking of buying land and house soon. Earlier, the state government had announced a 2 per cent rebate on stamp duty for buying and selling houses and land. The circle rate was discounted by 10 percent. In this year’s budget, the state government extended the duration of both these exemptions. Chandrima Bhattacharya proposed in the Legislative Assembly to extend the exemption period by another 6 months. In that case, as a result of the new discount, the customers of house, land will get this new benefit till September 30.

Basically, the state government had given this stamp duty, circle rate discount to provide some relief to the common people and to give relief to the housing industry during the Corona period. Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya said that as a result of this decision of the state government, the tide has come to the housing industry in the state after Corona.

In addition, he said, as a result of this discount, on the one hand, ordinary buyers have benefited. Some expenses are saved from their pocket. Similarly, the state treasury has also benefited. As a large number of buyers registered, money also came into the treasury. Chandrima Bhattacharya claimed this figure as a record.

Incidentally, during the Corona period, the economic wheels were stopped all over the world. The housing industry was also hit hard. Mamata Banerjee herself first announced the relaxation of stamp duty, circle rate in the 2021 budget to revive the housing industry from that trough. Since then this period has been increased step by step. In this year’s budget it has been increased a little more.

On the other hand, Chandrima Bhattacharya gave some good news to the state government employees in this year’s budget. A 3 percent DA hike has been announced. He said that this DA will increase from next March. Although only 3 percent are not happy with the increase in DA, the workers agitating for DA have said.

Besides this year’s state budget (WB Budget 2023) has also been announced about Lakshmi Bhandar. Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the women who are currently getting money under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme, will get Rs 1000 as old age allowance directly after crossing the age of 60 years.
