: Bank employees have decided to go on strike on January 30 and 31. In such a situation, the strike is likely to disrupt bank services. Already in this regard, the State Bank of India has informed that the two-day strike called by the Union Forum of Bank Unions on January 30 and 31 may affect the operations of their branches. Basically, it has been reported that the employees of bank branches across the country are going to participate in the strike of the bank employees. As a result, customers are getting important banking tasks done early to avoid hassles.

In this context, SBI has more than 42 crore account holders across the country. In this situation, the bank appealed to its customers to complete all their important work before the strike i.e. January 27. Basically, banks will be closed due to the fourth Saturday of January 28. Then banking services will be closed on Sunday 29th as well. And right after that there is a strike program for two days. As a result, there is a risk of disrupting the bank’s operations for the entire 4 days.

Work may be disrupted at bank branches on strike days: In this context SBI informed that it has been informed by the Indian Banks Association (IBA) that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has issued strike notices to the associations affiliated to UFBU i.e. AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA. Besides, SBI informed the stock exchanges that AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF and INBOC have decided to go on nationwide bank strike on January 30 and 31 to meet their demands.

Services affected on January 30 and 31: Already, this country’s largest government bank is taking necessary measures to properly manage the normal operations of its branches. However, banks have also informed customers that branch operations on January 30 and 31 may be affected due to the strike.

Bank employees have these 5 demands: In this regard, AIBEA general secretary CH Venkatachalam said that the strike has been announced on January 30 and 31 to resume the agitation of the bank employees. He also said that the bank employees have a total of 5 demands. Among them are some old demands including update of banking pension as well as demand for abolition of National Pension System and recruitment to all cadres by revising pay.
